The Landing Craft Assault (LCA) is designed to efficiently transfer equipment and troops ashore. Robust, reliable, with excellent mobility and manoeuvrability, the LCA lands and picks up Ground Forces in record time during amphibious assault operations.

The LCA is a mature design that is scalable in nature so that with an increase in size greater range and lift capacity can be realised. In addition to be an effective ship to shore connector, the LCA can be employed with embarked crews autonomously to conduct amphibious operations over longer distances and greater periods of time.

The LCA specifically designed to conduct tactical resupply in the littoral environment, it can also conduct littoral manoeuvre of the Joint Force by day and night, on inland and coastal waterways and open seas. The LCA would be a remarkable upgrade to the capability offered by legacy platforms like the LCM-8 Landing Craft, which the ADF’s Land 8710 Phase 1 Army Water Transport Project seeks to replace.

L-CAT® Ship-to-Shore is a sea & combat proven landing craft. It is in active service since 2011 in the French Navy and since 2016 in the Egyptian Navy. It proves each day its ability to support the Armed Forces on a global scale for both military and civilian assistance operations.

Measuring 30 meters long and 12.6 meters wide, the L-CAT®  Ship-to-Shore offers a maximum payload capacity of 80 tons. It can reach speeds of up to 30 knots when empty, and 18 knots when loaded to maximum payload. During amphibious operations, it guarantees optimal transit speed, rapid loading and unloading of the deck, and thus a reduction of threat exposure time, while enabling a mother ship to remain a safe distance from the coastline if necessary.

L-CAT® has a great autonomy (500 NM up to 700 NM according to loading wieght) fully matching tactical requirements of amphibious operations.

Following the L-CAT® Ship-to-Shore, a sea proven ship that is primarily operated on the basis of a mother ship, L-CAT® 100% “Shore-to-Shore” is the new landing craft.

L-CAT® Shore-to-Shore can operate with or without any coastal infrastructure: port, quay, slipway, beach. It has a long range in order to ensure, with full autonomy and independence, a fast deployment of troops, vehicle and equipment from their home port to the objective.

L-CAT® Shore-to-Shore is tactically autonomous system with its own communication, detection & surveillance systems. It has an autonomy of 800 NM and can go up to 22 knots.

Going beyond amphibious operations, it responds perfectly to current maritime security needs, as well as to civil assistance requirements, such as the evacuation of civilian populations from disaster-stricken areas.
