MGB units are light, easily transported, can be constructed by hand and adapted for most tactical bridging requirements. The system includes piers, pontoons and ferries, all engineered for deployment with minimum manpower.

The WFEL MGB is a modular, two girder bridging system with deck units providing a four metre wide roadway and optional walkway. The basic building units consist of seven precision-engineered light alloy components.

Easy to assemble and lightweight, two of the units require six personnel to lift them while the other structural units each require four personnel. The deck and ramp units can be lifted by two personnel.

MGBs are available in five different product configuration groups:
Single Span, Multi-Span, Double Storey with Link Reinforcement Set (LRS), Floating and MACH (Mechanically Aided Constructed by Hand).

The MGB can also be fitted with an optional reduced slope to provide a smoother entry and exit to and from the bridge.

The Dry Support Bridge (DSB) is the new generation of tactical military bridging. Deployable by just eight soldiers and a single launch vehicle, the DSB can get traffic moving over a 46 metre gap in less than 90 minutes.

  • Its primary mission is to support the momentum of attack.
  • Its secondary mission is emplacement on main supply routes to the rear of the combat zone to help keep military and civilian traffic flowing.

The DSB is made from a specially manufactured lightweight aluminium alloy under licence to WFEL.

The Air Portable Ferry Bridge (APFB) is an evolution of  WFEL’s classic, battle proven Medium Girder Bridge (MGB) system with a range of applications for military and disaster and emergency relief operations.

The APFB is a modular system that can be easily transported by land, sea or air using its own fold-away trailers, pallets or ISO containers.

The APFB can be assembled easily by troops or trained civilians making it ideally suited for use in expeditionary, emergency and disaster relief operations conducted by fly forward forces. It can be used to bridge both wet and dry gaps, employed as an overbridge and incorporates a ferry system.
